Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how StoryStork, operated by Simulatecx Inc. (“we”, “us”, or “our”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform at storystork.ai.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

• Email address and display name (provided at signup or via Google Sign-In)
• Profile preferences (age range defaults, content mode, notification settings)
• Subscription tier and token balance

1.2 Content You Create

• Story prompts and inputs you provide to the AI generator
• Generated stories, poems, titles, and synopses
• Persona profiles (names, traits, descriptions) you create
• Anthology and story collection names and structure

1.3 Voice Data

If you use voice cloning (available on Storyteller and Dreamweaver plans), we collect the audio recording you submit. This sample is transmitted to Mistral for voice model creation and is stored in Firebase Storage associated with your account.

1.4 Usage & Technical Data

• Stories generated, tokens used, and generation history
• Weekly usage counters (audio listens, story views)
• Firebase Analytics: page views, feature interactions, error events
• IP address and device type (collected by Firebase and Google infrastructure)

1.5 Payment Data

Payment card details are collected and stored by Stripe. We never store your full card number. We receive a Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and transaction records.

• To provide, operate, and improve the StoryStork service
• To generate AI stories, images, and narrations using your prompts
• To manage your token balance and enforce plan limits
• To display public stories you choose to share with the community
• To send transactional emails (account verification, subscription confirmations)
• To send a weekly story digest email (you may opt out at any time)
• To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations
• To comply with legal obligations

4. Voice Data & Cloning

Voice recordings submitted for cloning are used solely to create a voice model associated with your account. We do not use your voice recordings to train general AI models or share them with third parties beyond Mistral for the purpose of creating your voice clone.

If you list a cloned voice on the creator marketplace, other users may generate narrations using that voice. Your display name will appear as the voice creator. You may request removal of your voice from the marketplace at any time by contacting us; existing narrations using your voice may remain stored as they were already generated.

5. Story Forking & Attribution

When you make a story public, your display name is stored as the author and is displayed in all variations (forks) that other users create. This attribution data is part of the platform's lineage system and persists even if you later change your display name.

6. Children's Privacy

StoryStork accounts must be held by individuals aged 13 or older. Content is generated for children but accounts are managed by parents or guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover an account was created by a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

A note on photos of children: We strongly advise against uploading identifiable photographs of real children to any AI platform, including StoryStork. Please use illustrated or cartoon-style images for persona portraits.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

We use the following browser storage:

• Session cookie (__session): HTTP-only cookie set after login for authenticated page access. Expires after 5 days.
• Theme preference: Stored in localStorage. No personal data.
• Pending referral code: Temporarily stored in localStorage during signup flow. Cleared on use.
• Firebase Analytics: Google may set cookies for analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Email Communications

We may send you the following emails:

• Transactional: Account verification, password reset, subscription confirmation, and cancellation notices. These are required for service operation and cannot be opted out of.
• Weekly story digest: A curated email of new community stories sent each Monday. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email or from your profile settings.

All emails are sent from info@storystork.ai via SendGrid.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

• Account data is retained while your account is active.
• To delete your account and all associated data, email us at info@storystork.ai. We will process deletion within 30 days.
• Public stories may remain visible for up to 30 days after account deletion. Stories that have been forked by other users may leave attribution traces in the lineage system.
• Voice samples submitted to Mistral are subject to Mistral's data retention policy. We will request deletion from Mistral when you delete your account.
• Stripe retains transaction records as required by financial regulations, independent of account deletion.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (e.g. weekly digest)

11. Data Security

We use industry-standard practices including HTTPS for all data in transit, Firebase Security Rules restricting database access to authenticated users, HTTP-only session cookies, and server-side API key management via Google Cloud Secret Manager. No system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

12. International Data Transfers

StoryStork is operated from Canada. Your data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions by our third-party providers (Google, Mistral, Stripe, SendGrid). These providers maintain appropriate data transfer safeguards.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
